Centerra Metropolitan District

Metropolitan Districts are governmental entities and political subdivisions of the State of Colorado, designed to serve as perpetual quasi-municipal corporations, each operating with an elected five-person Board of Directors. The primary purpose of the Districts is to finance public infrastructure required by the development and to provide an ongoing governmental structure for the operation and maintenance of district improvements and facilities.

The Centerra Metro district contracts with the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) for native area maintenance and other landscaping services. HPEC is involved with the Chapungu Sculpture Park and has helped to make the Lakes at Centerra Colorado’s only Certified Community Wildlife Habitat.  HPEC is located within the Lakes at Centerra and works to educate communities to become replicable “living laboratories” which demonstrate restorative examples of land-stewardship, native plants, and wildlife habitat.
